On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the principles of modern incident command, control and coordination as they apply to planned events and unplanned emergencies.

• Design and implement proportionate command and control structures appropriate to the size, complexity and risk profile of events, festivals, exhibitions and arena operations.

• Integrate event planning with emergency response frameworks to ensure effective liaison with emergency services, local authorities and partner agencies.

• Identify hazards, assess dynamic risk and apply structured decision-making during evolving incidents in crowded and high-pressure environments.

• Establish, staff and operate an effective Event Control Room, including information management, logging, communications and situational awareness.

• Apply effective leadership, communication and teamwork skills within incident management teams to maintain command discipline and internal operational control.

• Manage escalation, resource deployment and handover to statutory agencies during serious incidents and major emergencies.

• Develop and test contingency plans, business continuity arrangements and recovery strategies to minimise disruption and ensure safe event delivery.

• Demonstrate compliance with relevant legislation, guidance and industry best practice for crowd safety, security and emergency management.

• Critically review incidents and exercises to identify learning, improve performance and strengthen organisational resilience.
