On Completion learners will:

• Understand & Describe the indications & contraindications for Peripheral intravenous cannulation

• Identify relevant anatomy & Physiology of commonly used veins in Cannulation

• Demonstrate core knowledge of accurate equipment required for Cannulation and its correct use

• Apply infection prevention & control principles relative to intravenous cannulation

• Understand & demonstrate the concept of consent and preparing the patient & environment for cannulation

• Demonstrate correct technique using a systematic approach

• Demonstrate good governance & documentation following procedure

• Demonstrate and understanding of complications and their management during and post procedure
