This Outdoor / Sport First Aid bolt-on course is designed to enhance existing first aid knowledge for those working or volunteering in outdoor, sports, or physically demanding environments. It focuses on the additional risks, injuries, and challenges faced when providing first aid in remote locations, during sporting activities, or where access to emergency services may be delayed. The course is practical, scenario-based, and aims to build confidence in managing incidents safely and effectively outside of a traditional workplace setting.

​

On Completion learners will have a solid understanding of:

  • Identify common risks associated with outdoor and sporting activities

  • Manage casualties in outdoor or sporting environments while maintaining personal and scene safety

  • Assess and treat sport-related injuries such as sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations

  • Recognise and manage environmental conditions including hypothermia, heat exhaustion, and dehydration

  • Provide appropriate first aid for head injuries and suspected spinal injuries in a sport or outdoor setting

  • Adapt first aid techniques when access to equipment or emergency services is limited

  • Make informed decisions about casualty monitoring, evacuation, and escalation to emergency services
