MIMMS exists to teach the nature and management of the major incident and how to deliver the medical support needed. The new fourth edition course will run in the 2-day face-to-face format only which also includes a pre-course learning (VLE) element.

The programme comprises online e-modules plus a 2-day face-to-face course. 

The Core learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding the organisations, structures and roles in managing major incidents and how they work together.

  • Able to prepare for and implement a structured approach when responding to major incidents (CSCATTT).

  • Able to deliver the medical support needed at major incidents, through triage, treatment and transport.

The 2-day face-to-face course includes:

  • Lectures

  • Command, control and coordination

  • Assessment

  • Triage
