Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify different types of stomas and their indications (colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy). Understand the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal and urinary systems relevant to stoma care. Assess a patient’s stoma site, identifying potential complications such as leakage, skin irritation, and prolapse. Implement effective management strategies for stoma care, including pouching systems, skin protection, and patient education. Recognize common complications associated with stomas and demonstrate appropriate intervention strategies. Provide psychological and emotional support to patients with a new or permanent stoma. Document stoma care management and treatment plans according to best practice guidelines.

The Highfield Level 2 Award in Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) has been developed to allow learners to become a first aider for mental health in their workplace. This means they will be able to provide basic mental health support or to be the first response to someone in need. Although the qualification will not allow learners to become clinically qualified to assess, diagnose or treat mental ill health, they will have an understanding of the principles of first aid for mental health and know the basic tools to listen to individuals who require first response support for their mental health. Resuscitation Council UK’s e-ALS course blends a day of e-learning with a day of face-to-face practical learning. With over 20,000 healthcare professionals trained every year, ALS covers numerous essential skills in resuscitation, including delivery of adult CPR, recognition and management of the deteriorating patient and working in a team during emergency situations. Our ALS qualification is recognised by the European Resuscitation Council and the Australian Resuscitation Council, giving you the freedom to use your lifesaving skills in other countries.

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment. Topics covered The qualification covers knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident. First aid skills in CPR and use of an AED, providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.

This is the ideal course for people who are receiving their EPALS certification for the first time. It is also used as a recertification course. Verification of Expected Death - For Registered Nurses / AHPs Confirmation or verification of death is defined as deciding whether a person is actually deceased. Verification of death can be undertaken by a competent registered nurse in line with their employer’s policies to determine local agreements about the circumstances in which this can be done.
